IES Project Wins SANDEE Award

San Diego, CA - The City of Encinitas was recently recognized by the California Center for Sustainable Energy for "Special Achievement by a Government Agency" at the 5th Annual San Diego Excellence in Energy (SANDEE) Awards. The award was given for comprehensive green energy improvements to the City's Civic Center facilities.City of Encinitas Civic Center Solar System

Independent Energy Solutions (IES) designed and built the photovoltaic system that was a major component of the overall project. The array features a unique roof and trellis mount, produces 114 kWdc of power using 510 modules, and will offset about 50 tons of carbon annually.

Linda Strand Presides Over Vista Christmas Parade

Linda Strand at Vista Christmas ParadeLinda Strand, CEO of IES, held court over the Vista Chamber of Commerce 2008 Christmas Parade as its Grand Marshall on Saturday December 6. Ms. Strand was recently named as the 2008 National Association of Women Business Owners as the recipient of San Diego's "2008 Green Community Award". According to the Chamber, Ms. Strands' selection as Grand Marshall was in keeping with the theme of this years' Christmas parade, "I'm Dreaming of a Green Christmas". Ms. Strand is a long time Vista businesswoman and founder of Independent Energy Solutions, one of the premier solar energy companies in California.

From this new position, he will plan, direct and execute the company’s sales, marketing and business development functions. Gisel will also play the leading role in developing and strengthening key strategic relationships.

Independent Energy Solutions Merges with E² Electrical Contractors

Independent Energy Solutions, Inc. (IES), a leading renewable energy development and design/build firm today announced it has acquired the assets and personnel of E² Electrical Contractors, Inc. E² owner, Donovan P. Jones, becomes IES’ director of construction with the merger adding 6 employees to the IES roster.

According to IES Executive Vice President, Troy Strand, “This cements a close working relationship IES has had with E² for the past 4 years. E² has been electrical contractor of choice for our major solar electric projects due to the skills and excellence of Donovan Jones and his work force. As director of construction, Donovan will be responsible for all field activities and enable our combined organizations to handle even larger projects effectively and efficiently.”

Jones, age 35, founded E² in 2001 and has been working with IES since 2003. He is a licensed electrical contractor in California and Arizona with certifications in photovoltaics (PV), on-site power generation and data/telecommunications. E² has installed more than 100 PV systems worldwide.

“Customers are increasingly looking for one-stop renewable energy solutions including design, build, maintenance and training. Combining E²’s practical field experience with IES’ outstanding design, engineering, procurement and customer service capabilities will greatly improve our competitiveness and ability to tackle ever-increasing project sizes”, said Jones.
