Linda Strand Receives NAWBO San Diego "2008 Green Community Award"

Vista, CA – June 10, 2008 – Founder & CEO of Independent Energy Solutions (IES), Linda Strand, has received the NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) San Diego "2008 Green Community Award" it was announced today. The award recognizes environmental achievements, business leadership and community involvement.

In presenting the award, NAWBO San Diego President, Claudia Klaus, said, "Linda Strand has led her firm, Independent Energy Solutions, to become one of the premiere solar energy companies in California. Her unwavering commitment to the environment and our community have earned her this award."

Strand, who founded IES in 1998, has seen her company grow from a small residential solar installer to a major supplier of renewable energy solutions to public agencies, the US Department of Defense and commercial businesses. Strand noted, "The Green Community Award is especially gratifying since it directly reflects the principles we have established at IES for environmental stewardship and sustainability."

Solar Carport Shines for US Navy

US Naval Station Pt. Loma Solar Ribbon Cutting

Independent Energy Solutions (IES) today announced completion of a 68.6 kW solar electric carport for the US Navy at Naval Station Pt. Loma in San Diego, California. The system consists of 330 photovoltaic panels designed to produce about 80,000 kWh of electricity per year or enough to power about 14 homes.

According to Linda Strand, IES President, "This project is a great illustration of IES' commitment to designing and building creative and cost-effective renewable energy solutions for our military forces."

Kyocera & IES Announce Children's Museum Installation

San Diego Children's Museum Solar Installation

Kyocera Solar, Inc., a world-leading supplier of environmentally friendly photovoltaic (PV) systems, today announced the completion of a 96.4-kilowatt solar electric generating system atop the newly redesigned Children’s Museum San Diego (CMSD).

The system, composed of 576 Kyocera 200-watt PV modules, was designed and installed by Independent Energy Solutions, Inc. (IES) of Vista, California, and is expected to generate approximately 136,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year.

Troy Strand Snags Federal Energy Award

The U.S. Department of Energy's Federal Interagency Energy Policy Committee presented its 2007 Federal Energy and Water Management Award to IES Vice President, Troy Strand, for exceptional accomplishments in the efficient use of energy in the Federal Sector.

Mr. Strand has long been an advocate for renewable energy solutions and has worked on numerous DOD photovoltaic and hybrid energy projects.
